The Cross Keys is a restaurant located in Leeds. The Cross Keys is at the heart of some of the most important industrial buildings of the Victorian age. It was here in Leeds that the engineer Matthew Murray first made his name developing steam engines, textile machinery and the very first locomotives. Indeed, shortly after opening it is said that rival engineer and inventor of the modern steam engine James Watt hired a room within the pub from which he spent 3 months spying on Murray and stealing trade secrets from the workers who were drinking in the pub. Today the Cross Keys is one of Leeds’ few genuine free houses and is still at the heart of its vibrant community. Our partnership with the wonderful Bomba restaurant means that you can enjoy fantastic Spanish dishes in the pub or in the courtyard.
